“I can find my biography in every fable that I read.” ―Ralph Waldo Emerson
What we find fabulous about fables is more than the fantasy. Animals speak in other media too. It is the message in the medium.
“The moral of a fable is eternal. The moral of a story is temporary to a story.”
A speaking animal might say that the juice and the pith of the fable make it fabulous.
“It is a myth, not a mandate, a fable not a logic, and symbol rather than a reason by which men are moved.”
As long as it is juicy and pithy, one might say, it is as good for a goose as a gander.
“Don’t be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth.”
