“Don’t stand so close to me” ―The Police

Picture poetry by P. Leduc & C E Sum

Social distancing gives everyone their own space, exactly what some soulmates need to stick together.

“Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till it be morrow.”

―William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet are not parted by their career paths, but by their family names.

“Only in the agony of parting do we look into the depths of love.”

―George Eliot

Shakespeare does not give the only Capulet and the only Montague who do not feud, day jobs between balcony scenes.

“The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.”

―Charles Dickens

Social distancing sets the scene for the blues, joining soulmates in parting’s sweet sorrow.

“Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.”

Khalil Gibran
