A New Canvas

Commencing spring 2020 presents a new canvas, literally and figuratively.

“Life stands before me like an eternal spring with new and brilliant clothes.”

―Carl Friedrich Gauss

Canvas size: 44″ W x 50″ H / 112 cm x 127 cm

The literal new canvas is primed with white gesso, from which the figurative spectrum emerges.

“To be interested in the changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring.”

―George Santayana

Under the weather is how the world appears to us this spring. Seems the wheels of progress grind exceedingly slow and not even the wildlife make tracks. Yet, as crocuses grow from snow, so evergreens from gesso.

“Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems.”

―Rainer Maria Rilke
