A New Canvas

For spring 2020, our old hands worked all winter on a new canvas, literally and figuratively.

“Life stands before me like an eternal spring with new and brilliant clothes.”

―Carl Friedrich Gauss

The literal new canvas is the white of its gesso, on which the figurative spectrum blooms.

“To be interested in the changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring.”

―George Santayana

Spring 2020, while the world is under the weather, literally and figuratively, seems the wheels of progress grind exceedingly slow, and not even the wildlife are making tracks. Even so, from the new canvas, hopeful hues of the season do spring.

“Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems.”

―Rainer Maria Rilke
